Programme Information
Graduates will be able to synthesise research evidence, knowledge and expertise for advanced nursing practice within a practice specialty. They will be able to critique organisational protocols in light of research evidence to maintain current best practice. They will demonstrate reflexive strategies for culturally safe practice within complex client situations, organisational systems and multi-disciplinary teams; and for those who follow the research option, be able to participate in scholarly inquiry through nursing research activities to improve health outcomes and inform practice, health policy and the profession. Graduate career opportunities could include advanced nursing practice positions, management, research, education, clinical leaders, independent practice or entry into further study as Doctorate level. Completed written work can be used as part of the application for registration as a Nurse Practitioner.
Content
The Level 9 Master of Nursing is based on a two option programme of study; Option 1 is a course work structure which includes compulsory modules in nursing research, a practice based research project, advanced nursing practice and an optional module from a range of topics: Option 2 is a dissertation structure and includes a module in nursing research and a practice based research dissertation of 90 credits conducted in the student’s own area of clinical practice.

Entry Requirements
IELTS of 7.0 across all bands; or equivalent.
Programme Entry Criteria
1.1. Applicants are required to have gained: - a Wintec Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing, with a grade average of B or better, or - Candidates from another tertiary organisation must have an equivalent qualification with a grade average of B or better and deemed to have reached the learning outcomes of the compulsory modules of Wintec's Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing programme. 1.2. An International candidate must be a registered nurse in their country of origin and have a postgraduate diploma in an equivalent qualification in nursing with a grade average of B or better and is required to have an IELTS score of 7 if English is a second language. 1.3. All candidates are required to have graduate nursing experience in the health sector demonstrated in a professional portfolio. 1.4. Candidates must complete their application for selection at least two months prior to the commencement of the programme.
